About the Course
In this U.S. Geography course, students will have fun as they learn to identify each of the 50 states, their capitals, and major geographical landmarks. By the end of the class, each student will have completed a State Note Book with many details about each state. Extra attention will be given to Indiana and to other states that the students find particularly interesting. The students will read four biographies about famous Americans from the Heroes of History series by Janet & Geoff Benge (YWAM Publishing): Benjamin Franklin, Clara Barton, Meriwether Lewis, and Ben Carson. Written and oral reports will be completed for each book. Grades will be given for the assignments, but for the 6th grade students some assignments will be optional or abbreviated. This will be a great class to help 6th grade students to transition smoothly into the upper school classes.
