Expectations and Homework
Homework: There will a some homework (as a supplemental) to review and / or prepare for our next class. If you are using this as a supplemental class, homework will be about 45-60 mins a week. There is an option for this semester class to fully replace their current math class, if you would like that option there will be daily homework options for 45-60 mins a day.

This semester course is designed for students who will be taking Algebra 1 next year (anywhere, but will be customized to align with the Alg 1 class at cornerstone). This course can be a 1) supplement class for your student on these topics, 2) you’d like your student to have exposure to these math topics, and/or 3) take the place of their current math class.
Topics will include:
- The Real Number System
- Decimals
- Fractions
- Percents
- Integers
- Perfect Squares, Square roots, cube roots
- order of operations
- evaluating expressions & intro to equations
Class will be Tuesdays from 2:00-2:30 (maybe a tad after, but not much).
Class will consist of hands on and practice. We will focus on the conceptual understanding of these concepts and how they relate to future concepts.
A Google Classroom would be set up with additional/supplemental practice based on class work. It also might include videos lessons (if you want this to take the place of their current math class, you’d have that option). I will provide answer keys and be available during the week to help, parents will be responsible to grade students work. I will not issue a “grade” but I will give level of proficiency by topic.
Cost: $185 + $15 for supplies per student
Tuesdays from 2:00-2:30
A minimun of 3 students will be required for this class to continue, deadline to sign up is December 15th.

About Corry
My name is Mrs. Smith and I teach Algebra 1 & Geometry. I was born in Stockton, CA but raised in Phoenix, AZ. I graduated from Southwestern Christian School with a BS in Elementary Education, a Minor in Bible, and a Minor is teaching ELL students. I also have a MA in Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, and certificates in Math Education. I have worked with all ages, from young child to adults in many different settings. I have worked in education for over 20 years. First as a teacher and then in administration and educational leadership. My husband and I homeschool our amazing 8 kids!
