About the Course
I believe, just as with letters of the alphabet and numbers, the best time to introduce music education is in early childhood. In this class we will introduce, at the beginner level - musical terms, notes, symbols, rhythm, beat and dynamics. We will use various rhythm instruments, sticks, hand bells, clapping, and
body percussion. We will experience the joy of music through songs, fingerplays, stories, learning centers, manipulatives, and games. We will have fun!

About Dawn
Hello!
I am Dawn Kimberlin Combs. The children can call me Miss Dawn. I'm excited for the opportunity to teach Preschool Music at Cornerstone Classical! I have two wonderful grown children and have been blessed with six beautiful grandchildren. Two of them are enrolled in classes at Cornerstone! I have always loved children and have experience teaching preschool through elementary in both school and church settings.
I took classes at Oral Roberts University and earned a CDA (Child Development Associate through the National Council of Early Childhood Education) in 2001. I have been a Kindergarten instructor through the Title 1 All-Day K program at Scottsburg and Lexington Elementary schools and have experience teaching Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, Physical Education and Music at Restoration Christian School and Grace Christian Academy. I have also tutored elementary students in Math and Reading.
I lead worship at my church, New Bethel Church in Lexington, where I have attended my entire life. I’ve enjoyed teaching elementary Sunday School classes, Kids Church, Wednesday Kids Club, directing choir and children’s Christmas music programs and leading music for Bible School.
In my free time, I enjoy playing piano and keyboard, singing, hiking, traveling, cooking/baking, flowers, volunteering and spending time with my family and friends. I love Jesus and music, and teaching children about both! I look forward to meeting you and your children and teaching at Cornerstone.
