Course: Biology I

This high school biology course is designed to be your high school student’s first science course. As a college-prep high school biology course, it will set the stage for success in their homeschool years in high school, prepare them for college-level courses, and give them an understanding of the basic biological world that surrounds them each day of their lives, so they can appreciate the real-world relevance of a scientific inquiry. 

In this course there is:

• A heavy emphasis on the vocabulary of biology so that students are properly prepared to have scientific discussions
• A strong background in the scientific method so that students are trained for laboratory sciences in other high school science courses, as well as university studies
• Labs that cover experimentation, microscopy, and dissection
• Introduction to classification, biochemistry, cellular biology, molecular and Mendelian genetics, evolution, ecosystems, and much more

Materials needed:   

• Exploring Creation with Biology Textbook, 3rd Edition - Textbook & Student notebook.

• Computer, printer, & internet access
• Basics school supplies, including a 1-inch binder, paper, pencils, colored pencils

Grades will be communicated through the use of a "shared" Google sheet beteeen the parent, student, and teacher.

Google classroom will be utilized to communicate and collect homework as well as to give feedback.
