Course: 7-9 U.S. Geography

In this U.S. Geography course, students will have fun as they learn to identify each of the 50 states, their capitals, and major geographical landmarks. By the end of the class, each student will have completed a State Note Book with many details about each state. Extra attention will be given to Indiana and to other states that the students find particularly interesting. Essays and oral reports will be completed for each region of the country. The students will read four biographies about famous Americans from the Heroes of History series by Janet & Geoff Benge (YWAM Publishing): Meriwether Lewis: Off the Edge of the Map, Clara Barton: Courage under Fire, Louis Zamperini: Redemption, George Washington Carver: From Slave to Scientist. Essays and oral reports will be completed for each book. Grades will be given for assignments/projects/speeches.
