About the Course
A course emphasizing visual storytelling, mood, composition, and meaning in art through a variety of dry- and water-based media. Rather than merely copying images step-by-step, students learn to think like artists and create artwork in response to concept-driven prompts such as: Can a drawing feel loud or quiet? What does stress look like? How do you paint a memory? Students grow in developing ideas, experiementing with materials, refining compositions, and in contemporary art practices such as participating in critiques.
Students will develop proficiency in graphite, charcoal, pastel, watercolor, and gouache.
